Tiger Woods Arrested for DUI After Rollover Car Crash in Florida
The accident occurred on Friday afternoon

In a statement that’s been written too many times, Tiger Woods was involved in a car accident on Friday afternoon. According to the Martin County Sheriff John Budensiek, the 15-time major champion was arrested and charged with DUI, property damage, and refusal to submit.
After a roadside examination, it was deemed alcohol was not involved, but Woods refused a urine exam. Budensiek noted that while Woods has the right to refuse the test, a Florida statute states he must stay in jail for eight hours after being charged with DUI.
“This could have been a lot worse," Budensiek said Friday. Neither Woods nor the driver of the other car, a truck hauling a pressure washer, were injured.
The accident took place on Jupiter Island, the quiet and removed enclave where Tiger has his home in South Florida. Tiger's vehicle, a Land Rover, did not fully rollover but was turned on its side after Woods clipped the truck while overtaking at what the sheriff called "a high rate of speed." Woods was alone in the car and crawled out of the passenger door before law enforecement arrived on the scene. Photos quickly emerged from the scene with Tiger's SUV on its side.
Woods made a brief return to competition for the first time in over a year earlier this week when his Jupiter Links GC lost to Los Angeles Golf Club in the TGL finals. Reports broke earlier in the day on Friday that Woods registered for the U.S. Senior Open.
Tiger's injury history is well documented, and the 50-year-old has been recovering from yet another back surgery in October, as well as a ruptured Achilles tendon. This latest accident comes five years after Woods nearly lost his leg in a single-car crash in Los Angeles back in February 2021. This crash, however, comes in a quiet, residential area with low speed limits but still resulted in one rolled over car.
Woods was also involved in a car accident in his neighborhood in Orlando in 2009 and arrested for DUI in 2017.
