Same as Mark. Need either something like Discord or Discourse (was unfamiliar with this but looks pretty nice for this function) to run the community. Anyway, looking forward to talking to Beau on Tuesday. I will say it is refreshing that you are openly discussing this with us and seem like you actually want to make this right even if there are some bumps along the way.

I count Caledonia as one of my favorites. Amazing routing on a tiny piece of land that never really feels all that tight or close to other holes (but clearly is). Except for the ninth hole, which feels like "oh, crap, we only have 17 holes."

Okay, okay. You've pacified me by being nice. As for the name, I'm getting the impression that this group is a bit indecisive in that area. "Candyroot" may not last. I don't find myself terribly opposed, though. It's at least immediately distinctive and has a connection to the land and the region. But yes, no doubt it has a kids' video game flavor to it.

He's doing a lot more than Rolapp, but at the same time… the LPGA was so much further behind.

That S A Wrap On The 2025 Lpga Season
November 26, 2025
This probably doesn't count because it technically happened late last year, before the season started, but the defining moment has to be Mollie Marcoux getting canned, right? Or maybe Craig Kessler getting the job a few months ago. Gotta be honest, I found this to be a dire season of LPGA golf. Really hope some coherent storylines emerge next year.

That S A Wrap On The 2025 Lpga Season

I feel similar to Will - I can't think of ONE moment that stood out to me. However, throughout the entire season, I couldn't look away because I was just WAITING for SOMETHING to happen. It was like a movie that you heard was good from someone with good taste, but it kinda stunk, and you wound up watching the whole thing, waiting for it to get better. Probably not what the LPGA wants from its fanbase, but I watched more women's golf this year than men's.

I felt like the holes, especially the greens, sit very naturally into the land above and beyond even some other Doak courses . I thought there was a boldness to some of the green complexes on par with some of the great MacKenzie designs like 8 and 17, while some sat very subtlety as an extension of the fairway and surrounds such as 1 and 16. And I found the way the routing and fairways moved through the property offered a lot of variety from the views, to the risk / rewards and the shotmaking. For me, there isn’t a weak hole at St Patrick’s and I don’t think there are two which are very similar. The one standout design element in my memory is the quality of the green complexes and I’d be open to hearing a different opinion on this. I personally love wild putts, subtle breaks which you have to work to figure out and the bumps and rolls around the green surrounds which you watch in hope of a favorable outcome. So St Patrick’s filled my bucket in this respect. Maybe any new course ranked in the top 50 or 75 in the world is crazy compared to Macrihanish, but I just played Cruden Bay which sits on similar land and while I loved it I would rank St Patrick’s higher. I think we can all argue the merits of one course being high and another low, so I can understand the disconnect with the rankings in relation to Te Arai North as that impressed you more. Perhaps I shouldn’t be making any defense of the rankings. I guess I was reacting to the comment about it not being the best course at Rosapenna and just wanted more context.

Link to the KCCC drone footage? I had seen the plans last time I was there but wasn't aware work was actually rolling.

Oh its absolutely the most relevant factor - I also live in the land of 'you can't get there from here' so sense of what is close is all screwed up. Very excited for the project, I'll just call it northern SC sandbelt for my own pedantic purposes :) Now on to a more serious complaint - I feel like we can do much better than Candyroot Lodge - sounds like a Wreck it Ralph themed disney hotel
