Cabot Cape Breton (Cliffs Course)
The aptly named sister course to the Links, the Cliffs at Cabot Cape Breton is routed along a dramatic coastline and features an exhilarating final stretch

Four years after the Links Course at Cabot Cape Breton first brought destination golf to Nova Scotia, Cabot founder Ben Cowan-Dewar was ready for an even bigger swing. The Links Course opened to widespread acclaim, and the beauty of Cabot Cape Breton’s location did more than enough to attract visitors. It was time to expand and make the resort an unavoidable attraction. An aggressive piece of land a couple miles north of the Links Course had already been secured. All that was left was to bring in some big-name architects, and in stepped Bill Coore and Ben Crenshaw.
Routed along a dramatic coastline and undulating hillside, the Cliffs Course is on a far hillier piece of ground than its sister course. The front nine loops around the south end of the property before returning to the starting point at No. 10 green and heading up the hill for the final eight holes. The last three holes tackle the namesake cliffs, providing an exhilarating finish to the round. The Cliffs’ pro shop also serves as the home base for the resort’s par 3 course, The Nest, a 10-hole short course that occupies the highest ground on the resort (currently). This section of Cabot Cape Breton also contains Coore’s Lobster Shack, and as of 2027, another new restaurant, as well as a clubhouse with a gym.
Take Note…
Take the path. Behind the tee boxes on the 16th hole is a well-worn foot path through some shrubs and high grass. It’s worth dirtying your shoes just a bit to get the best view of one of the most daring par 3s you’ll ever play.
Why is it blue? The logo at Cabot Cliffs is a blue lobster, not something you see every day. They are extremely rare, but given how big the lobster industry is around the area, it makes for an appropriate logo.
Best views in town. On your drive back to the main area of the resort, you’ll see a sign for The Annex, claiming the best views and food in town. The views are arguable, but the food is really damn good.
