Prairie Club (Pines Course)
For those looking to get away and immerse themselves in the game of golf, the Pines Course at the Prairie Club stands alone in the public golf space
Dancing between the micro-environments of Northern Nebraska, the Pines Course at the Prairie Club stands alone in the public golf space. While the Pines certainly feels smaller than the Dunes Course, it too boasts expansive playing corridors in a more eclectic environment. As the name suggests, the Pines takes players on a trek alongside the Snake River Canyon rim through an ancient ponderosa pine forest. The dramatic sandhill dunes push right up to the canyon to provide an experience that weaves in and out of the towering pines and rolling hills. This remote golf resort is ideal for those looking to get away and immerse themselves in the game of golf.
As for the course itself, the dunes are slightly smaller than the ones that you traverse on the Dunes Course, but no less interesting to play golf over. The Pine’s bunkering is much more intricate and smaller scaled than the Dunes, which adds a creative flair to the design. Making the most of the land, the design boasts an elongated out-and-back routing that crosses over itself twice during the round and interacts with the canyon. Almost every green has heaving contours that allow for funneling pin locations as well as tucked pin locations that require proper positioning to attack. All of these design features are amplified by the splendid fine fescue playing surfaces that yield themselves so well to playing the ball on the ground. The combination of the dynamic Pines layout and sensory blitzkrieg experience at the Dunes makes the Prairie Club a superb destination for golfers looking to experience the high end of public Nebraska Sandhills golf.
Take Note...
Unlimited. While the greens fees are on the high end of the scale, they do include unlimited golf for the day across the resort. This means you can enjoy free replay rounds, the amazing Horse Course short course, and the Old Wagon putting course. Another thing to note is that the semi-private facility limits public play to one 18-hole course a day, which alternates daily. If you want to play both courses, you’ll have to spend two days at the resort.
