Cookeville isn’t great for golf but Crossville has 5-6 courses that are pretty good. It is mountain golf which is hit or miss. I’m a member of Golden Eagle Golf Club which is just the Tennessee Tech course. It’s improving and they are planning on a bunker renovation that I think will make it a little better.
Fall Creek Falls is a pretty good track that’s inbetween Chatt and Cookeville.
I’m constantly fighting the battle whether it’s worth it to do a national membership at one of the Chatt or Knoxville courses. It’s about 90 minutes which makes it tough with two small kids, but Lookout Mountain or Holston Hills is tempting.
Lancaster County here as well! (On the Chester County line). 45 y/o, 3 kids, currently sitting in a hotel room at PGA Frisco while my boys (14 and 17) go around the Par 3 because I'm too old to move anymore after our round on Field's Ranch East followed by piles of BBQ. I digress but play out of Whitford and French Creek at home. Would love to tee it up!

I use the ring of fire, but I setup 4 tees at 3ft, 6ft, 9ft, 12ft, and if nobody is on the green 15ft. You don’t have to go around each circle twice, but every putt you miss you have to go back to the previous one. Can’t stop until you make the last 12/15 footer. Once did this drill for 3 hours straight
Hey there, Joshua!
24, 1 kid with another on the way, no interest in fighting!
I’m based out of Chattanooga, but my wife’s family is from Cookeville! What are some of the courses up in the Cookevegas area?
What Would Myrtle Beach Have To Do To Make A Comeback For A Golf Destination
November 3, 2025
This is a great discussion topic! In my opinion, they just have to consolidate. My father used to frequent Myrtle Beach in its heyday, and the key was that all the courses were in relatively great shape. So, you could pick any of the hundred courses at random and play a decent track that was in good shape. Now there are too many of those courses that want to charge $70 a round and they haven’t done anything to improve (or in many cases maintain) course conditions. There is also the factor of length. 25 years ago maybe 1-5% of the playing population was hitting it 280-300. A lot of those course designs just aren’t built to allow for bombing the ball, and because they are all on such small footprints they can’t make any changes to accommodate the change in the game. That makes a lot of the courses too boring, or too constricting on play style to be enjoyable for the general golfing population.
If you cut the number of courses down to a solid 15-25 that are all in great shape, and have the more modern design elements (not that I am necessarily a fan of modern design, but the times are the times), then they’ll be able to provide enough variety while still maintaining elite conditions to the golfing population. This would also allow for the courses to be more than the old run down clubs they are today. There’s no life, no change, no enthusiasm in the golf world of Myrtle Beach.
