Welcome to the last Monday of the corporate year! Apologies if any of you are required to work on Christmas Eve or New Year’s Eve. Let’s talk some golf.

Read My Lipsky

David Lipsky is your victor on the European Tour this week. The American closed out the Alfred Dunhill Championship on Sunday with a final-round 68 and notched his first professional win since 2014. Lipsky plays on the European Tour full-time and had a rough 2018 season until this weekend. He missed over a third of his cuts and had dropped outside the top 350 in the world rankings. A victory cures all woes, and he will move back inside the top 200 heading into 2019.

Among the other notable top finishers were South Africans Louis Oosthuizen (T-7), Dylan Frittelli (T-12), and Brandon Stone (T-15). This marks the third straight top-10 finish for Oosthuizen. Leaderboard

Indonesian Masters

The other event of the weekend was the BNI Indonesian Masters. While the event did have some big names in the field, it was dominated by the Asian Tour players. Poom Saksansin won the event by three shots over Jazz Janewattananond, while Henrik Stenson (4th) and Justin Rose (T-17) also finished inside the top 20. This is Saksansin’s second win on the Asian Tour this year and will move him inside the top 150 in the world for the first time in his career. Leaderboard

Former NCAA Champion and Ole Miss’s top player, Braden Thornberry, announced on Friday that he will forgo his final semester of school and turn professional for 2019. Thornberry led the Web.com Tour Q-School after one round but fell off and only earned conditional status. He will undoubtedly use his allotment of sponsor’s exemptions for the PGA Tour, so expect to see him early and often this spring.

He’s Back

After splitting with longtime employer Zach Johnson last week, Damon Green will return to the PGA Tour next year on the bag of Ollie Schniederjans. Known for his unorthodox antics and his ability to annoy Andy, Green will be an interesting veteran presence with Ollie. Full Story
