LIV Golf 2.0 in Danger After Financier Fallout

The renegade league may have just lost its last leg to stand on

LIV Golf 2.0 appears to be dead before arrival.

BC Partners, a private capital firm that planned to relaunch the renegade league after it filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy in September, has reportedly dropped its bid, according to the Financial Times, “leaving the Saudi-backed tour to seek a liquidation of its remaining assets.” A hearing is scheduled for Thursday, November 5.

The Athletic reported that “approximately 30 players had signed on to LIV for the 2027 season and another 10 were on the fence,” but a lack of commitment from star players led BC Partners to shutter its plans. Over the last couple of weeks, notable names like Jon Rahm, Tyrrell Hatton, and Tom McKibbin, as well as veterans Sergio Garcia, Ian Poulter, and Graeme McDowell, all announced they wouldn’t return to LIV.
