How Well Do You Remember the Patrick Reed Experience?
Some of the best quotes about (and from) the content king

Patrick Reed won’t be rejoining the PGA Tour just yet — he’ll spend the year playing DP World Tour events, serving a de facto suspension before returning in 2027 — but it doesn’t mean we can’t begin to build our excitement for the return of golf’s content king back to the main circuit. Few players, if any, have given us as much to talk about over the years as Reed, and as we strolled down memory lane, it got us thinking about some of his greatest hits.
Did he really say that? Did someone really say that about him? We picked our 20 favorites.
See if you can match up the infamous Reed quote with who said it in our first-ever newsletter quiz: “How Well Do You Remember the Patrick Reed Experience?” Answers, and the source where you can find them, are linked below.
1. “Did I say I liked Patrick Reed? Are you putting those words in my mouth?"
2. “There is one way to shut these people up. Go out there and win this thing by more than two shots. You go win by five or six and you trounce everyone on Sunday. I mean, does it matter?”
3. “Anyone else would get a drop out of there any day of the week.”
4. “Every day, I saw ‘Leave your egos at the door. They do that better than us. … For somebody as successful in the Ryder Cup as I am, I don’t think it’s smart to sit me twice.”
5. “I don't know that they'd piss on him if he was on fire, to tell you the truth.''
6. “I guess my name needs to be Jordan Spieth, guys. I want a third opinion, from an unbiased source.”
7. “Normally you’re working together, but we want to beat each other every time. So even when we’ve been on the same team, it’s been a match against each other. In alternate shot, if we don’t win a hole, I want it to be his fault and he wants it to be my fault. So we’ve almost played every single match we’ve been involved in together against each other.”
8. “If you’re going to act like an immature little child then you might as well be treated like one.”
9. “I just don’t see a lot of guys that have done that, besides Tiger Woods, of course, and, you know, the other legends of the game.”
10. “This is going to follow him around like the video of Nixon saying ‘I’m not a crook.'”
11. “An expert forensic videographer broke that down... Altered footage from a copy of LIVE broadcast…from his actual shot to the shot shown in replays- basically DIGITALLY ALTERED to publicly smear and cause damages to PREED.”
12. “I don’t think it would be a big deal if it wasn’t Patrick Reed. I think, it’s almost like, a lot of people within the game, it’s almost like a hobby to kick him while it’s down. If it wasn’t Patrick Reed, it wouldn’t be getting quite so much attention.”
13. “Every time I play you, it’s like I run into a buzzsaw. You just cut me down.”
14. “I got a subpoena on Christmas Eve. I was trying to have a nice time with my family. If someone shows up on your doorstep and delivers that, you're not going to take that well. I'm living in reality. I don't know where he [Reed] is living. If I were in his shoes, I wouldn't expect a hello or a handshake. I don't see how you can pretend like nothing's happening … I didn’t see a tee coming my direction at all, but apparently that’s what happened. And if roles were reversed and I’d have thrown that tee at him, I’d be expecting him [to file] a lawsuit.”
15. “I don't know, my back still hurts from the Ryder Cup.”
16. “If you make a mistake maybe once, you could maybe understand, but to give a bit of a bulls**t response like the camera angle … that’s pretty up there. I know Pat pretty good, and he’s always been nice to me, so I don’t want to say anything bad about him, but anyone cheating the rules, I’m not up for that. I don’t have any sympathy for anyone that cheats.”
17. “The Reeds have a miserable relationship with the PGA Tour," a source said. "I know nothing would make them happier than giving the Tour a big middle finger.”
18. “It was interesting, because my mother-in-law's birthday was yesterday. She turned 59, and she goes, 'I want you to shoot my age tomorrow.' I said OK. Obviously I didn't come close, but at least someone did it for me."
19. “RORY MCILROY DID THE SAME THING TODAY ON HOLE 18! AND DIDN’T EVEN CALL A RULES OFFICIAL OVER TO DEEM THE BALL EMBEDDED. END OF STORY.”
20. “He is so full of s**t. Blindsided my ass. He begged to play with Tiger…He would have shot 83 on his own ball Saturday. He totally screwed Tiger. He has no clue how to play team golf. I saw firsthand how bad of a team player he was. Eleven players understood the concept of team golf and only one didn't. Unfortunately, that one proved to be too costly for the team to overcome.”
