Tiering Worlds Best Players 2025 Majors

Maybe I'm looking at it wrong, but Aberg seems to get way too much credit given his numbers this year based on one stellar performance at the Masters in 2024. You bring him in and you would need to bring in Keegan, Spieth, and others IMO. The talent is obvious, but the stats don't seem to support the outsized reputation.

If PJ is taking "Best Player Without a Major" away from No Hat Pat, which seems reasonable, then who owns it now. For me I think it has to be Fleetwood. He's playing lights out and maybe he's stepping into Monty's shoes as a guy who can win, just not in the US, and who can compete in majors, just not win them.

Mr. Bardwell, what have you been doing with all of your extra time this summer instead of watching the Braves dumpster fire?

Excited for the Pasatiempo course profile. My LA based golf league has 3 rounds planned there for our end of the year tournament.

A good observation, Ben! Bluejack National emphasizes playability as well. I think one of Tiger's strengths as a designer is that, in spite of his unbelievable talent and skill as a player, he seems to empathize strongly with average and beginning golfers. This might be partly because he grew up playing at municipal and public courses with his dad's pals rather than being injected directly into some country club bubble or youth development program. That said, I'd like to see a bit more edge and quirk from Tiger's architectural work. His courses look playable but not, at least to my eye, particularly interesting or original.

Have played Marcella in the Trackman simulator as it was the course for one of our offseason leagues. One thing I noticed between it and Payne's valley is how wide the fairways are and how, dare I say, straightforward and non-difficult it is to play it although Im sure the altitude helps with that. It made me think though that Jack Nicklaus has the reputation of building overly hard courses due to his experience of what it would take to challenge a good golfer. It seems Tiger Woods (or his associates) has swerved in the opposite direction trying to build more wide open courses open to all. I wonder if this trend will continue and if so what it tells us about Tiger's design philosophy.
