Favorite Tee Times and Groups to Watch at the 2025 U.S. Open
As if Oakmont wasn't exciting enough, these tee times will keep your attention

As if a U.S. Open at Oakmont Country Club wasn’t enough to get fans excited for the week, the USGA has announced tee times for the first two rounds, and a handful of groups stand out from the rest.
All times Eastern (Thursday/Friday)
Harris English, Tommy Fleetwood, Keegan Bradley (7:18 a.m./1:03 p.m.)
Three steady players who can absolutely flush the ball from the fairway should make for a fun watch at Oakmont (as long as they find the fairway).
Xander Schauffele, Jose Luis Ballester, Bryson DeChambeau (7:29 a.m./1:14 p.m.)
Bryson DeChambeau has won two of the last five U.S. Opens and Xander Schauffele hasn’t finished worse than T-14 in eight appearances. These guys are appointment viewing this time of year. Unfortunately for Jose Luis Ballester, Oakmont doesn’t have any water features to relieve himself.
Min Woo Lee, Justin Thomas, Brooks Koepka (1:03 p.m./7:18 a.m.)
Min Woo Lee is known for his, how should I say, deliberate pace of play, while Brooks Koepka is more of the ready golf type. Sprinkle in Justin Thomas’s recent scoring volatility and we could see some fireworks from this group.
Sam Burns, Nico Echavarria, Denny McCarthy (1:14 p.m./7:29 a.m.)
A trio who can roll the rock better than most. All three rank in the top seven in SG: Putting this season on Tour, with Sam Burns leading the way by a considerable margin.
Viktor Hovland, Collin Morikawa, Scottie Scheffler (1:25 p.m./7:40 a.m.)
World No. 1 Scottie Scheffler is the perennial favorite whenever he tees it up these days. Collin Morikawa, ranked second in driving accuracy and sixth in approach, should slot in nicely at Oakmont. Viktor Hovland’s form is hard to trust these days, but he’s as capable as anyone to flip a switch.

Ludvig Aberg, Adam Scott, Hideki Matsuyama (7:18 a.m./1:03 p.m.)
Three golf swings I could watch all day long on a loop.
Ben Griffin, Andrew Novak, Maverick McNealy (7:29 a.m./1:14 p.m.)
With all three players currently in the mix for the U.S. Ryder Cup team, this may be Keegan Bradley’s favorite group of the first two rounds. Now a top-15 player in the world, Ben Griffin is playing the best golf of his life. For Andrew Novak and Maverick McNealy, this could be a prove-it week as both have been rather boom-or-bust this season. Expect the Bethpage discussions to ramp up if anyone in this group contends.
Shane Lowry, Justin Rose, Rory McIlroy (7:40 a.m./1:25 p.m.)
Luke Donald’s favorite group of the first two rounds. This is a comfy tee time for the European Ryder Cuppers and should be a fun group on vibes alone, and that’s without mentioning Shane Lowry’s scar tissue from 2016, Rory McIlroy’s recent driver woes, or Justin Rose’s contend-or-bust results this year.
Jordan Spieth, Jon Rahm, Dustin Johnson (1:14 p.m./7:29 a.m.)
Jon Rahm has been in the mix at both majors this year and Jordan Spieth’s game has shown signs of life this season. Dustin Johnson won the U.S. Open the last time it was at Oakmont in 2016, but nine years later, he’s more of a model than a contender this week.
Full first and second round tee times.
