Pga Tour Kapalua Hawaii Water Shortage

Hey Jay, yes, this is a photo of the Bay course. Photos of the Plantation circulated yesterday, too, though. It is a bit greener but certainly still struggling.

Pga Tour Kapalua Hawaii Water Shortage

Did some diving through the twitter thread. Seems like this picture is from the Bay course as they are putting all available water on the Plantation. Still a terrible situation with untold amounts of lost revenue and jobs for people at the resort. Other courses have water so these seems like a hyper localized/political problem for the resort. Hopefully they can get it sorted out soon

My hands down favorite new (to me) course I played this year is Buffalo Dunes in Garden City, KS. From what I can tell the topography is very similar to Rodeo Dunes though the dunes at Buffalo appear a little less dramatic. Still, very impressive. I think the most exciting thing for me was the experience of driving south out of Garden City the few miles to the course and seeing those brush covered dunes, imagining the course I would find when I arrived at the course. Very excited to see Rodeo Dunes some day.

Seeing these photos really makes me want to go back home and play Harrison Hills. There are Only 9 of L&M but there’s some great stuff out there too.

I would be shocked if Doak doesn't get a chance at one but maybe he won't do it given the proximity to Ballyneal? After that I think Michael and Chris could get creative with who they pick. Lot of various options.

With enough land for up to six courses at Rodeo Dunes, is there any speculation for which architects get courses 3-6? I think Geoff Ogilvy / OCM would be an interesting selection.

The land moves pretty good throughout but it's not like Ballyneal where there's one major hillside/slope. In other words, there's no 80 foot drop like the 4th at Ballyneal. I would say the dunes are slightly smaller than Ballyneal's but still very large in the grand scheme. Some of the dunes are definitely taller than 20ft. The biggest dune comes in on the back nine. The 12th and 13th holes climb up to a high point then the drop-shot par 3 14th plays off of it. The 16th also climbs up a large dune and the 17th plays off of it probably 30-40 ft or so downhill.
