Very cool photos of Westhampton. It seems to get overlooked given the wealth of elite golf on Long Island. Probably unlikely to host a TFE event though.

also- the Irish dunes comp is spot on. It's so cool how the holes are cut out dramatically from the dunes; the way they sit down in them allows for both a delightful walk, as well as each hole having a distinct sense of place. Aside from a few greens and tee boxes you generally feel isolated on a single hole, with only maybe a sightline from a tee box to another distant green. But even with full preview play, I don't think we saw another group on a golf hole until we hit approaches into 18 and saw folks teeing off of 1. This always makes for a delightful experience IMO

Matt- just curious on some other Rodeo takes: - Any favorite hole from the preview loop? 4 is an obvious "oh wow" hole, but for me 17 might be an early frontrunner, partially because of where it lands late in the routing. - Impressions of the par 3s? I find them to be absolute stunners across the board. 13-14 back-to-back is quite a pair, but the green site on 2 as you called out is delicate and beautiful. And we didn't even get to play the <120yard 9th which may be the best of all. - There was a lot of eye-brow raising and whispering amongst founders/attendees in the "this is gonna be top-50" vein; it's early and a lot of things go into rankings, and I'm not convinced that rankings really matter besides one's own personal favorites. But, is such a claim/thought just recency/personal bias, or do you see it having to the potential to really stack up with some of the best in the country/world? Hope you enjoyed the event/week out there- we had a ton of fun and are super proud of how the place is coming together. Dream + C&C do it again! Excited to see the second course come together

I was at Sunningdale last year for the Curtis Cup. I thought it was a great course but there's no way I -- a high handicapper -- could play it with the many forced carries. Think of the golfers who love to play but just are not very good as you travel around England!

Can't promise anything based on what the future may hold but there are a few that we plan to return to as long as they'll have us. Sand Valley, Bandon, Lawsonia, Kingsley, and Essex (Boston) being chief among them. We're hoping to create somewhat of a rotation from there and rotate in hosts!

I've been an avid follower of Michael's stewardship adventures at Culver, so this acknowledgement by Fried Egg Golf is such a pleasure to see... has to be to be one of the most fascinating & best golf course archaeology stories in golf history? Hopeful, instructive & inspirational for all who are attempting restoration work. Great course profile (Matt) and wonderful to see 3 Eggs!!!

If helpful, Sand Valley has been a yearly event I think since Club TFE started. Kingsley, Essex and Lawsonia have also been yearly events IIRC but with way golf landscape changing, who knows if will stay the same! Hopefully Yale come back as a yearly event!
