Too jarring to comment at this time. I will need time to process.

Are we sure that Under Armour didn't have a hand in the Sunday scripting? 100% looks like it's out of the Jordan Spieth collection

My view on new courses is similar to new restaurants. I let them sort things for some time before I check them out. I don't go when things are new. I agree it's hard to prioritize what to see, so I would rather see the courses I know are going stand the test of time, rather than the hot new buzzy thing. Plus, there are so many classic courses that are a gap in my resume.

Really? Cantlay?? Is there no accounting for habitually starting unnecessary locker room drama? Does Xander Schauffele absolutely need to play only with his homeboy and no other? I don't get this. I'd take any of the almost-top-6 before him. I'd take Billy Horschel, who's won a Dell Match Play, in front of him. It's my least favorite part of Ryder Cup to see guys who are currently playing like poo make the team just because they've made the team before. When has it ever worked out? Doesn't seem to happen with the Europeans...

I'd give it 4 eggs, but what do I know. Hearing Navy training across the street is very cool.

Andy caveats the 2 egg score with a primary takeaway I had from a round there. The most interesting land is found exactly where you don't want your ball to be. The ravine system is distinctive and lovely, but then hitting fairways didn't capture the same emotional register. Fortunately I'm no good, so I got to explore the right side of 11 and plenty of other neat spots. The greens are terrific, and seeing those really helped bolster my interest in Raynor as an architect and builder. His routing ability, particularly at SA and CGC, is surgical--but is it too clinical? As an analogy, I don't think he'd be the internist you'd want for bedside manner. Colt or MacKenzie would've likely been more suitable. But Raynor would've been the specialist who saved your life in an emergency and was gone before you woke up. Why would I play more rounds at Old Elm than SA? Is it because I find Raynor to be more of a puzzler than an artist? Am I making the mistake of not identifying enough heart in his work? I wonder how could such a talented builder, who learned under Macdonald, never fall in love with the game enough to want to play it?

That was my experience there and at main Sand Valley too years ago. Looked green, lot of thin grass that was mostly sand. Although I loved both at the time, I love them more now grown in and more settled. Landmand was another one for me. I played it opening fall and it was very shaggy with heavy equipment ruts off every fairway. Personally I try to imagine what it could/will be but it can be tough. Pinehurst 2 is my biggest mental block. Played it soaking wet in the spring which killed the design features and options.
