July Virtual Hangout Mlb Trade Deadline

I have two questions: 1.) What would be the best LIV trade deadline deals? Would DJ and his contract be unmovable? 2.) Will this be a hangout for non-dads only? If I told my wife that I had to join a golf/mlb-related trade deadline zoom on a Thursday at 5pm she’d [Tiger Thanksgiving joke].

The Old Course St Andrews
July 31, 2025
Hi David, Yes! My first of five days of Ballot Buddy (highly recommend it for singles and the information they share) was not successful, but we had flown into Edinburgh and driven into St Andrews in time for me to visit one of the two clubhouses where you can sign up for the Singles Lottery. Closes at 4pm of the day before and at 6pm they send text messages, mine was that seven people got tee times but I was number one on the wait list. I was told to show at 6:15am ready to play at anytime that day, when some person did not show. I showed up and upon checking in they informed me that I could take a tee time at 1:15pm or elect for the next available, I took the guaranteed time and requested a caddie. As a hacker, a 15, a person capable of good and bad shots, I was very pleased that my drive on #1 almost made the burn and I cleared it for my approach. I enjoyed some nice Texas Wedges onto greens and playing on the Old Course. The caddie was great! Beyond the good advice and carrying the bag I think they are most helpful when you hear a FORE. The Old is between the New and the Eden, there are of course double greens, lots of people walking on paths, its a target rich environment, so when you hear FORE you glance at your caddie to determine whether to duck or not. I got to play the putt around the Road Hole Bunker well enough to stay out of the bunker and into the middle of the green and played a drive and an approach on the 18th green and then three putted from a long distance. St Andrews is a lovely town and I'd enjoy spending a season there playing all the courses.

NBA seems to have a lot of players (including Lebron recently) that golf. Who are the MLB-ers that are playing golf? I know Dodgers catcher Will Smith can send it.

I have been following Formula 1 since 1992. I am so dedicated, I try to watch all the races live, regardless of time zone. The one thing that has been constant in all these years is that it has been hard to pass in F1. The cars change annually and with the goal to increase passing, and that never happens. My favourite track is Spa-Francorchamps and I enjoyed the race on Sunday. But it is a hard track to pass on, as every track is! This is not NASCAR. On to Hungary, where passing is REALLY hard. So enjoy the procession!

Don't keep us in suspense -- did you play it?! In my single trip to Scotland we had one Old Course tee time and the next day swung by about 7:30 am to ask if there was any room left at the end of the day (we had a morning time at Crail). We figured long shot, but why not ask? The staff said they doubted it but would let us know. As we were walking of Crail at about 1:00 we got a call that they could squeeze us in late (and we were not the last ones to tee off) -- I get the sense there is typically more room at the end of the day then they let on (or we just got incredibly lucky).

Can you imagine how much golfers would hate it if they got a 10-stroke lead and then with 9 holes left they were brought back to a 1-shot lead due to a safety golf cart or something. The fair police would freak out!

F1 really demonstrates this to the masses due to the increase in car size. Google F1 car size 2005 vs today and you will be blown away by the increase. But overall auto racing as a whole (local to national) shares many parallels with golf in regards to how technology has been allowed to overcome the "playing field". They also share the same youth movement obsession along with the chasing of corporate dollars. I feel the chase of corporate dollars is where NASCAR really lost its way and lost many of the traditional fans. They stopped going to tracks like North Wilkesboro, Rockingham and Hickory in favor of newer, fancier and more modern facilities like Kansas Speedway and others. The quality of the racing went significantly downhill, the ticket prices went way up but they did sell more skyboxes. In the end, Americans attention spans are only so long and before they knew it those corporate customers were onto the next thing. This left these modern tracks with empty stands and no traditional fans willing to spend that type of money for watered down, copy and paste racetracks. In the end NASCAR was forced to return to the old school venues and they are now back on better footing. Sad to see golf unable to learn from those mistakes and just drive the semi down the same level B road. Sorry, as a former racecar driver, the parallel between the sports really hits home and drives me mad.
