I think the idea is that by turning the 17th to play 180 degrees you will be looking downhill, down the coast more.

Pga Tour Good Good Championship Golf Fall Event
October 29, 2025
Apparently the winner of the revamped Big Break X Good Good is going to have a sponsors exemption into this event. Shouldn’t we be on board with this? Seems more merit based than a lot of sponsors exemptions. Personally, I feel like I am in two worlds when it comes to golf fandom. I am 58. I am right there in the demographic of PGA Tour viewership. I love me a traditional golf broadcast. But I also watch a lot of YouTube golf and I think people tend to under estimate the number of oldsters like me who watch this stuff. I had actually left the game for 20 years and began to think about taking it back up three years ago. I started watching some YouTube golf probably in early 2022 and I vividly remember the first video I watched. It was a Good Good video. It reminded me of rounds I played with my buds in my twenties. I think Mark Crossfield was the second video I watched. I don’t know exactly what that means, but I digress. Anyway, my older sister does not play the game, but is a devoted PGA Tour fan. That’s probably an exception to the rule. No amount of Good Good videos, or whoever, would get her out there. But they do have the ability to interest people in playing golf, which in turn creates fans for the PGA Tour. The kind of fan that will buy the expensive equipment promoted by the PGA Tour. I think it’s a no brainer at GloHo to partner with these guys. Love your work KVV.

Chocolate Drops Tom Doak Sandpiper Renovation
October 28, 2025
It is significant that even in the imagined renderings of what the new Doak holes might look like, all the views are elevated, like you might get from drone photographs. From there the views are great! But one of the problems with Sandpiper is that the cliff edge there is unusual and, except at the far north edge, you can't really see over it until you are all the way at the precipice. You can be on the 6th tee, basically right next to the cliff, and basically not be able to see the ocean unless you walk all the over and look down. It is not at all like Torey or Pebble Beach where the land tumbles down to the ocean and the views are great out to the ocean everywhere on the property. Doak's course, if it ever gets built, looks like it will be better because it solves some other problems that Bell's routing has, but I think this spot of land is always going to be frustrating because you're so close to the ocean and yet you don't get the satisfaction of having great views all day the way you do at ... well, almost any other oceanside course in California. Just a weird spot of land.

My Favorite Putting Drill
October 27, 2025
I like this type of putting drill because it feels more like a game versus a regimented practice session, thanks Beau. Two pieces of putting that I think are very very crucial are short putts (<6 feet) and lag putting. For me at least, these create the most variance in score during a round. Here are two simple drills that I've used over the years to help with these. Ring of Fire. Set up 4-6 tees at 3 feet around a cup that's moderately flat. Simply get around the circle twice in a row without missing a single 3 footer. Once you accomplish this move back to 5-6 feet and try making it around the circle twice again. This is great because you have to focus on small moderate breaks from each direction. Missing putts inside 5 feet is the most painful thing to do on the putting green and this has helped me a ton. Lag Ladder. Set up a 3-4 foot radius semi-circle behind a cup. Then place tees in 4 foot increments going back to 30+ feet. (You can set up the tee ladder in any number of increments and quantity). Start from the first tee and move back each time you make the putt or get the putt past the hole and inside the semi circle. To win the game you need to climb the ladder to the end and then move all the way back to the start. This really dials in your lag putting control and gets you to hit the ball past the hole giving you a chance to make it. Doing a modified version of this before a round can help get your speed control perfected on the greens for that day.
