Ladies and gents of FEGC,
I hope you all are having a lovely time in the August heat. I know I sure am. Let's ignore the humidity and talk golf instead, shall we?
FEGC Housekeeping
Looking to go to Ireland and Northern Ireland to play some of the best golf in 2026? I have a trip for four people that is preset and ready to be sold. The trip includes stops at Royal Portrush and Royal County Down. If you're interested, please shoot me an email at will@thefriedegg.com and I'll get you the full details.
We have a whole mess of new polos, hats, layers, and accessories coming to the pro shop this week. Keep your eyes peeled for the drop on August 12.
This Week's Question
I spent most of this week at Sand Valley with a great group of Fried Egg Golf event attendees. I couldn't help but thinking how every course starts in such a different way. Not necessarily in the par on the scorecard, but in terms of the shots required. Whether it's a mid iron into the par-4 1st at The Lido or the wedge up the hill into No. 1 at Sand Valley followed by the testy shot into No. 2, or the string of difficult par 4s early at Sedge Valley, each course begins its routing in such a unique way. It got me thinking, what kind of shots do you like to hit early in a round? Do you like full swings to get the body moving? A difficult wedge shot to focus in early? I'm also curious if there are courses that come to mind as ones that have a great string of shots to begin that you enjoy.
