The Land Carton Ne Ohio

I think it would be awesome if our Carton had enough interest to merit monthly meetups at some of the better public courses around the area (Sleepy Hollow, Manakiki & Fowler’s seem like solid options). It would be great to vary the geographic area so everyone could participate without always having a long commute. And if we get there, it would be cool to challenge other Cartons in Ryder Cup style competitions. I see a lot of potential here and am happy to help with coordinating some of the activities as we get to the planning stages.

Golf Suggestions While Traveling

Dye Walk is private but if you put in a call, I bet you could get out. It was the first course that Pete Dye built, not sure what shape it is in today, but there certainly is some history there.

Favorite New Courses

I don’t think many people are really qualified to answer the question, there’s a selection bias as only so few have even seen half of them. From the list Matt posted I have seen 18 (plus a few not yet open), which seems like a lot but not even near half, and nothing from outside North America and that’s where the best in this group may lie. From what I have seen on Matt’s list, Childress Hall is probably the best, but I have a personal affinity to Sedge Valley. Tree Farm and the Park are most lovable and repeatable. Lido, Loop and Sandglass are the most thoughtful/intriguing. And the courses I want to see the most are Brambles and 7 mile beach. As always it’s easier to break it into different categories than to just say 1 name.

Louisville Ky Folks

Hey everyone, 23, live in Louisville, travel a lot with work, but home +/- 40% of the year. Grew up at Wildwood CC, but just aged out of the family membership, so now a fully public golfer. Seem to drive a hour+ a lot to play slightly better courses. Would love to have a fellow golf geek(s) to play with or even just talk shop about this game I love so much. As the days get shorter and golf sicko season begins, would love to schedule a meet.

56, 2 grown children, no interest in fighting anymore. I live in Nanaimo on Vancouver Island, so am lucky and do get to play pretty much year round. I am a long time member at Nanaimo Golf Club, which was originally designed by AV Macan. Been a member here since I was a kid, and got elected to the Board of Directors last January, and am currently the Greens Committee Chair. Anyone every out this way and wants to play, hit me up and I'll get you out for a round. https://www.nanaimogolfclub.ca/

DC Metro area. Also a home cook “sicko”. 1. Recently did a jerk chicken on the grill that really blew me away. Felt like I really nailed the authentic flavors and heat. 2. DC proper it’s probably Albi or Lutece. 3. Love eggs all the ways but if I had to pick one I’d say in my carbonara.

Alright, I have a tee time booked at Golden Gate Park GC for 4 people on Wed, Nov 19, 2025 - 2:48 PM. So far its Chris, Matt, myself and one more open spot. There's also open foursomes before and after this tee time, although the 3pm tee time is the last of the day during the winter.
