Time Is Ticking for Cape Cod Country Club

Next week on November 17, 243 elected officials will vote on three articles that will likely decide the fate of the historic Cape Cod Country Club, designed by Devereux Emmet in 1929. If you missed the initial story on CCCC, check it out here.

Sean Melia of Baystate Golf has been covering this story extensively and is the largest advocate for saving the course, as he is a local and one of many lovers of Cape Cod CC. The disheartening part of this story is that CCCC doesn’t need any physical “saving.” The course is publicly accessible, extremely well-designed, historically significant, properly maintained, and beloved by not just the local community but also golf enthusiasts like me, who go out of their way to visit courses like CCCC. It simply needs saving from alternative development and an owner’s desire to make a profound financial gain.

The vote on Monday will be up to the elected officials but the support of locals will not go unnoticed. If you can attend the town meeting at Lawrence School Auditorium, 113 Lakeview Ave, Falmouth, Massachusetts, at 7 p.m. ET, please do, as this is the best chance for elected officials to see what this golf course means to the community and vote accordingly. The meeting will air here if you are interested and cannot attend.
