Does the Ryder Cup Need Term Limits for Captains?
Luke Donald's extension got us thinking

Luke Donald was first named Team Europe's Ryder Cup captain for the 2023 match in Italy against the United States back on August 1 2022. After he drubbed Zach Johnson and the Americans at Marco Simone, Donald was unsurprisingly brought back to lead last year's team to victory at Bethpage Black. When the Ryder Cup returns to Adare Manor in 2027, Donald will look to become the event's first-ever three-peat captain.
Ryder Cup Europe announced on Wednesday that Donald has been extended through the September 2027 match, making the Englishman just the fourth man to captain the Euros three or more times, and the first since Bernard Gallacher (1991-1995). Given Donald's success at the helm, he was an obvious choice to lead the Europeans yet again, but when all is said and done, he will have served as Team Europe's captain for longer than a U.S. presidential term.
Is that in the spirit of the competition? Do Ryder Cup captains need term limits? Fried Egg Golf's PJ Clark and Brendan Porath discuss:
