Any chance of framing one of the events next year as more of a family affair? A lot of us have sub ten year old kids that don't play or putt a few here or there and trips that include them are much more palatable. Do you think there is enough interest for one of the events to be a "kids encouraged event"?! I picture my 8 year old girl making new friends doing cartwheels on the fringe to the new t swift album while my and a new FE buddy and I putt out, laugh at each other and walk off the green

I've been long planning on going to the LA Olys and the Hazeltine Ryder -- the desire dropped considerably after last weekend. Didn't look like fun at all to be there.

Personally, I think Narcissism is the most destructive force in our society. Great observations, but Point 3 is just symptomatic of some of its root causes and patterns of behavior. Many people may know that vanity and a need for attention are part of it, but it's a more complex set of behaviors in a single package. It's fascinating intellectually, but incredibly destructive in its impact. And its been force-multiplied by several key factors that I won't go into here, but social media and the evolution of a parenting generation are two of them, for sure. If you're ever interested, look up the writing of Nancy McWilliams on personality disorders and the percentage of people in a population with diagnosable Narcissist Personality Disorder. Not to mention how many cozy up to that line on the range. It may help folks to understand what they're seeing in action, and I'd bet at least some of the people spouting that stuff at Bethpage are pretty far along the range. Now back to the fun stuff about golf!

Nailed the last part. We don't have a golf fan culture problem in America - we just have a culture problem. In this particular case, it manifested itself through golf fans. With two high profile international sporting events coming quickly on the horizon (World Cup and Olympics) I hope that this serves as a wake up call to American fans and event organizers.

How come Talor Gooch wasn't metioned in point 2? Is this event even relevant without his presence?
