Paulie's Picks: 2025 Travelers Championship

Three players to keep an eye on in the final signature event of the season

I just don’t understand how the PGA Tour can keep putting signature events directly before or after majors. Similar to what we saw at the RBC Heritage after the Masters, I expect many players to uncharacteristically struggle this week. Oakmont was a hard course, and those who had to endure it for four rounds, especially if in contention, were tested both physically and mentally. I would be looking to fade many of those players this week at the Travelers Championship.

Once again, TPC River Highlands plays host to 72 of the world’s best. This is a very inviting course for most players on Tour as it’s one of the shortest on the schedule. Players will be hitting wedges into half of the greens, making for plenty of birdie opportunities with a winning score around 20 under. In terms of looking at a skill set, I would focus on wedge play and putting with a semi-accurate tee ball. Let's take a look at three players to target this week:

Patrick Cantlay: Top 20, +100

Similar to the RBC Heritage, Cantlay has an impeccable record at TPC River Highlands and has finished 15th or better each of the last seven years. He missed the cut at the U.S. Open, so he should be rested and focused. He is above average in wedge play, putting, and accuracy off the tee. This seems to be a perfect bounce-back spot for Cantlay as he tries to earn his spot at Bethpage.

Sepp Straka: Top 20, +115

Straka has a similar stats to Cantlay, which makes him a course fit. He also missed the cut at the U.S. Open and won’t be running on fumes like some of the other top players. As a player who already has two wins and two other top fives this season, it’s hard to believe we are getting +115 on him to finish top 20 in a field of only 72 players.

Brian Harman: Top 30, +100

Harman has finished ninth or better in six of the last seven years at TPC River Highlands. He finished 59th at Oakmont, so he wasn’t part of the late grind that many players faced on Sunday. One of the best wedge players and putters on Tour, Harman should be mentally rested and ready to go on a course that suits his game.
