Paulie's Picks: 2025 Wyndham Championship

Three players to keep an eye on this week in North Carolina

This week the PGA Tour hosts its regular season finale, the Wyndham Championship, held once again at Sedgefield Country Club. The top 70 players in the FedEx Cup standings will advance to the playoffs after this week, and the top 100 after the FedEx Cup Fall will retain their cards for 2026. Sedgefield is a Donald Ross course that places a greater emphasis on accuracy and precision than distance and aggression. This week is all about finding fairways, hitting approach shots close with short irons, and hoping you’ve got a hot putter in the bag. Let’s take a look at three players who are undervalued this week:

Ben Griffin: Top 30, +110

The market has massively overreacted based on Ben Griffin’s last two events. He shot 71-68 at the John Deere Classic and narrowly missed the cut after his worst putting performance of the season. He finished 71st at the Open, but he doesn’t have that much links experience. How different would Griffin be viewed this week if he putted slightly better at the Deere and made the cut at the Open? My guess is he would be much more expensive in every market. Prior to the last two events, he finished 14th or better in six straight starts, including two majors. He fits this course perfectly as he is the only player to rank in the top 10 both off the tee and on approach. He isn’t too shabby with the putter either, ranking inside the top 20. His main weakness is his chipping, but that isn’t needed much on this course. Look for Griffin to contend this week and secure a Ryder Cup spot.

Harry Hall: Top 40, -110

Harry Hall continues to have elite consistency with finishes inside the top 40 in each of his last nine events. Hall’s game is predicated on above-average iron play and elite putting, which is a great fit for Sedgefield. Yes, he can be wild at times off the tee, but this course allows him to club down on many tee shots as driver is often not needed.

Adam Scott: Top 40, +100

Currently No. 85, Adam Scott is on the outside looking in on the FedEx Cup standings. He heads to a course that he is very comfortable on, having finished in the top seven in two of his last three appearances. That includes a brutal playoff loss in 2021. He has finished in the top 40 in 11 of 17 events in 2025. Similar to Griffin, we are getting a bit of a depressed price here due to his last two starts. He missed the cut at Royal Portrush after a bad second round and finished 53rd last week at the 3M Open while losing nearly five strokes chipping and putting. Prior to his last two events, he finished in the top 40 in six straight starts, including two majors. Scott’s elite ball-striking should be able to carry him to another top-40 finish this week.
