Paulie's Picks: 2026 Wyndham Championship

This week the PGA Tour hosts its regular season finale with the 2026 Wyndham Championship, held once again at Sedgefield Country Club. 

This is the last event before the top 70 in the season-long standings move on to the first round of the FedEx Cup Playoffs next week. Sedgefield Country Club is an old-school course that places a higher emphasis on accuracy and precision than aggression and distance. The formula for success is fairly simple: hit fairways, dial in with short irons and wedges. 

Let’s take a look at a few players to target:

Hideki Matsuyama: Top 30, -120

Hideki Matsuyama has finished 14th or better in his last four starts, including showings of T-5 and T-3 the last two weeks. His approach game is firing on all cylinders. Last week in Detroit, he had his best week on approach in over a year. At times, Matsuyama can be held back by an inaccurate driver, but he has gained strokes off the tee in four consecutive events, something he hasn’t done in nearly two years. On a course that does allow him to hit less than driver at times, this seems like an ideal week for Hideki to be in contention.

Davis Thompson: Top 40, -106

Davis Thompson has finished no worse than 22nd in the last three editions of the Wyndham. He has also finished in the top 10 each of the last two weeks based solely on elite ball-striking as he has gained more than 16 strokes in that category. If he brings any semblance of that form this week, a top 40 price of -106 is way too cheap.

Sungjae Im: Top 40, -110

Im’s 15th-place finish in Detroit last week marked the first time he has gained strokes in all four major categories in over 18 months. This leads me to believe this could be a very good buy-low spot in the market for Im. He has finished 41st or better in all seven of his appearances at the Wyndham.

Blades Brown: Top 40, +102

Blades Brown has finished T-6 and T-5 the last two weeks on the Korn Ferry Tour and held the 54-hole lead last week. He has all but secured his Tour card for 2027 and is basically freerolling this week in Greensboro. Many people would not be able to guess that he has finished in the top 20 in six of his eight PGA Tour starts this season, primarily due to his elite approach game. This seems like another great buy-low spot for a player who will likely be a mainstay on the Tour for years to come.
