Paulie's Picks: 2025 Bank of Utah Championship

After a week off, the PGA Tour resumes its FedEx Cup Fall schedule with the Bank of Utah Championship, held for the second year at Black Desert Resort. This is one of the most visually appealing golf courses we see on Tour all year, with the fairways lined with black lava rocks. However, that is likely where the fun will end for viewers. 

The field is extremely lackluster with only five players inside the top 50 in the world: Alex Noren (17), Maverick McNealy (19), Kurt Kitayama (34), Billy Horschel (40), and Jason Day (42).  This course can also be very boring for the devout golf fan, as players hit 84% of fairways in 2025, which led to a 76% green in regulation rate. Essentially, this will be a putting contest where anyone can win, which isn’t what golf fans want to watch. We want to see players challenged in every aspect of their game.

With all that being said, I’m following a similar approach to the other fall events in being very limited and conservative in the number of bets I make and the amounts I bet. I would suggest you do the same, as we will see some unpredictable results in this glorified putting contest. Let’s take a look at my best bet for the week:

Christiaan Bezuidenhout: Top 30, -110

All signs point to Christiaan Bezuidenhout this week. He comes into this week in great form, finishing in the top 10 in his last two events at the Baycurrent Classic and the Sanderson Farms Championship. He now heads to a course that emphasizes putting, which is his largest strength. Bezuidenhout is the fourth-best putter in this field, and I’m not looking to overcomplicate things this week. Give me the player in good form on a course that lets him lean on his putting prowess.
