I find a lot of interesting match play courses feature "half-par" holes. I remember a back-and-forth with JLM during the Solheim Cup in Spain, where his primary criticism of the course was a lack of shot value. I eventually warmed up to his assessment because, while I enjoyed watching the golf being played, I found the matches mundane, as there were no opportunities for players to gain an advantage by playing a hole more aggressively or by throttling back to a calculated layup. The more varied potential outcomes are from hole to hole, the more the match might swing back and forth.

Very high on the "courses I could play every day" list. Biggest regret was not spending more time in the clubhouse

The bad uniforms are the ones you remember. The picture frame shirt from Brookline, lavender sweaters and nameplate rain gear from Celtic Manor, AK’s belt buckles from Valhalla, etc. These stink, and I am here for it.

Are we sure that Under Armour didn't have a hand in the Sunday scripting? 100% looks like it's out of the Jordan Spieth collection

My view on new courses is similar to new restaurants. I let them sort things for some time before I check them out. I don't go when things are new. I agree it's hard to prioritize what to see, so I would rather see the courses I know are going stand the test of time, rather than the hot new buzzy thing. Plus, there are so many classic courses that are a gap in my resume.

Really? Cantlay?? Is there no accounting for habitually starting unnecessary locker room drama? Does Xander Schauffele absolutely need to play only with his homeboy and no other? I don't get this. I'd take any of the almost-top-6 before him. I'd take Billy Horschel, who's won a Dell Match Play, in front of him. It's my least favorite part of Ryder Cup to see guys who are currently playing like poo make the team just because they've made the team before. When has it ever worked out? Doesn't seem to happen with the Europeans...
