Paulie's Picks: 2026 Cadillac Championship
Who to target at the PGA Tour's return to Doral

Here we are again, yet another PGA Tour no-cut signature event. This week we have 72 players competing in the Cadillac Championship at Trump National Doral. In what is a very compact area of the PGA Tour schedule, many of the top players — Rory McIlroy, Ludvig Aberg, Matt Fitzpatrick, Xander Schauffele, and Robert MacIntyre — have elected to skip the fifth of eight signature events. Wasn’t having all the top players competing against each other the point of these events?
Players will face a difficult test of golf as the Blue Monster can stretch out to 7,700 yards and features numerous water hazards that pose threats both off the tee and on approach. The course will heavily favor elite drivers of the ball and strong mid- to long-iron players and features Bermuda grass throughout, which will be a very different surface compared to the overseeded greens and fairways that players have been primarily playing the last few months. So in terms of handicapping players this week, I am focusing on ball-strikers who play well on Bermuda. The betting options are limited, so I will focus on my favorite pick of the week which allows me to get exposure on two of the best players in the field:
Parlay: Scottie Scheffler Top 10 and Cameron Young Top 20, +100
With a limited field and a course profile that heavily favors strong play off the tee and on approach, there is a large percentage of players who do not have a chance of contending. It’s not just a coincidence that the best players in the world also happen to be the best ball-strikers in the world.
Cameron Young is the best off-the-tee player in the field and is above average on approach. He has played very well on Bermuda over the last few years and has finished seventh or better in four of his last five events in 2026. Young finished T-25 two weeks ago at the RBC Heritage at Harbour Town, a course that limits his advantage with driver. At Doral, he should have a leg-up on the field and provide us with another high finish.
In a field that is missing five of the world’s best players, I was surprised to see Scottie Scheffler priced so low. Scheffler has finished inside the top 10 in 41 of his last 50 events, many of which were larger fields than this. After consecutive runner-up finishes, I expect Scottie to contend once again this week on a course that favors his elite ball-striking.
