Registration Information

The 2026 Fried Egg Golf Event at Pasatiempo is available to both FEGC members and non-member registrations if spots are still available. FEGC members have a 24-hour early-access period before public registration opens on Wednesday, February 18.

FEGC members interested in the full San Francisco Road Trip, you have two options for the Pasatiempo Event.

1. If you'd like to participate in the event at Pasatiempo regardless of whether you win the lottery for the Road Trip, please register during the early registration period for both the Event and the Lottery for the Road Trip. Those selected for the Road Trip will pay an additional fee separate from that paid for the Pasatiempo Event.

2. If you only want to participate in the Pasatiempo Event if you win the lottery for the full Road Trip, please only register for the Lottery during the early-access period. If you register for the event itself and then WD should you not win the lottery, your registration will be refunded minus a 5% processing fee. Our advice would be to not wait until after you know if you won the lottery to register for the event itself as there may not be additional spots available. Lottery winners will be notified on Thursday, February 19.

Format

This event will be an 18-hole two man best-ball team competition followed by nine holes of free play. Prizes will be awarded to low net and low gross teams.

Course Information

Pasatiempo Golf Club - Located in the hills above Santa Cruz, Pasatiempo was the vision of Marion Hollins, who brought on Alister MacKenzie to design the course in a daring example of Golden Age architecture. It bucked many conventions for its time, including its closing par 3, yet still featured MacKenzie's iconic green and bunker shaping. The course is routed on a steep piece of land that features roughly 300 feet in elevation change, but because the Good Doctor's creative routing the course doesn't feel overly taxing. Pasatiempo certainly has its demanding climbs like the iconic par-3 3rd and long par-4 11th, but it also features generous downhill holes and brilliant use of the land. Its back nine is undeniably one of the best in golf, and yet the front boasts some of the most eye-popping holes (and MacKenzie's house). Renovated by Jim Urbina in 2023-2024, Pasatiempo is growing into its third year of its refreshed look and will be a sight to behold come July.

FEGC South Bay Road Trip - Exclusive for FEGC members, this trip includes our event at Pasatiempo on Monday, July 27, a second day at Pasatiempo on the 28th, a visit to George Thomas's Stanford Golf Course on the 29th, and a closing day at Lake Merced Golf Club on the 30th.

Visit the Monterey Peninsula - It may be a small area of the world, but the Monterey Peninsula has a lot to offer. The golf is obviously great, whether you want to tack on golf at Pacfiic Grove, Poppy Hills, or one of the Pebble Beach Resort courses. You also have the downtown area of Monterey to visit, 17 Mile Drive to traverse, and numerous lookouts to experience nature.

Central California Wineries - From Monterey down to Paso Robles, the Central California Coast is home to a bustling region of wineries. This stretch is often less busy than Napa and Sonoma and includes top-of-the-line vineyards and terrific grapes to choose from.

Big Sur - One of the most beautiful drives in the world lies just a few miles south of Pasatiempo. A 90-mile stretch of coastline, Big Sur offers some of the most beautiful scenery, camping, hiking, and retreats that you can find in America.

Travel Information

AIRPORTS - For those who live in a city that flights direct to the Monterey Regional Airport (MRY), that will be your closest option. Most will have better luck flying into San Francisco International Airport (SFO). Both airports are about an hour from Pasatiempo.
LODGING - The closest lodging to the course is the Inn at Pasatiempo, but you can also stay anywhere in Santa Cruz, including the Courtyard by Marriott and Hampton Inn. For those looking for a more premium stay, check out the Chaminade Resort & Spa in the hills above Santa Cruz.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I sign up as a single? - Yes! Historically, about 30-40% of our fields are singles who we pair up based off similar skill levels and competitive interest.

Is there a handicap requirement? - Absolutely not. There is a pace requirement, but as long as you play quickly we are happy to have anyone and everyone participate in our events.

Are we walking or using carts? - We *highly* recommend walking Pasatiempo if possible. It is a terrific walk that allows you to full appreciate the golf course. That said, carts are included in the registration fee and can be used if you'd like to use them.

Can women enter? - Of course! When we said anyone and everyone, we meant it.

What is your refund policy? - Refunds for the Pasatiempo Event are available up to 30 days prior to the event. Your registration will be refunded minus a 5% processing fee. After the 30-day deadline refunds can only be issued in the case of emergencies unless the spot is filled by someone else from the waitlist or otherwise.
