2027 FEGC Lancashire Coast Trip
Details and information regarding our 2027 FEGC trip to the Lancashire Coast of England

The west coast of England is a land of golf riches, and one that is not as well traveled by Americans. Next summer, we're taking a trip to see a mix of Open Championship venues and local English clubs that provide a good sense of the region.
Our trip includes seven days of golf with a home base in Liverpool, a full week in prime English summer conditions. The early portion of the trip will traverse classic English clubs with the end taking laps around three Open Championship venues, including Royal Lytham & St. Annes the summer ahead of the 2028 Open.

Travel Information
Airports - All participants will fly into and out of Manchester Airport (MAN). Transportation will be provided from start to finish, including to and from all rounds of golf and between locations.
Hotels - All participants will have top-tier accommodations throughout our trip in the heart of Liverpool. Even better, you will stay in the same hotel the entire time. We'll spend a full week at the Hope Street Hotel in Liverpool, a great home base within walking distance to everything you'd want to experience in town.
Course Information
Royal Liverpool Golf Club (Hoylake) - Home to 13 former Open Championships, Hoylake is one of the most storied venues in championship golf. The course rests on a point due west of Liverpool and flush against the Irish Sea. It last played host to the Open in 2023 when Brian Harman ran away from the field, and other Open champions include Rory McIlroy (2014), Tiger Woods (2006), Peter Thomson (1956), Bobby Jones (1930), and Walter Hagen (1924).
Royal Lytham & St. Annes Golf Club - Another historic Open venue and host of the upcoming 2028 Open Championship, Lytham & St. Annes offers an inland view of links golf. It's often regarded as one of the most difficult on the Open rota with a huge volume of bunkers and demanding shots. It last crowned a men's Open champion in 2012 when Ernie Els won his second Open while Georgia Hall won her Open at Lytham & St. Annes in 2018.
Royal Birkdale Golf Club - Home to 10 Open Championships and six Women's British Open Championships, Birkdale completes our trio of western English Open Championship venues that we'll see on this journey. Just outside of Southport, Royal Birkdale has more dramatic dunesland than either Liverpool or Lytham & St. Annes. It's land is choppy and varied, a unique test of championship golf. It also resides next to two other courses we'll see on this trip: Hillside and Southport and Ainsdale. And yes, this is the site of Jordan Spieth's "go get that" moment.
Hillside Golf Club - Built in the 1920s, renovated in the 1960's by Fred Hawtree, and updated by Martin Ebert in the late 2010s, Hillside is a mix of English dunesland and heathlands. The course sites immediately east of Royal Birkdale, providing its dunesland holes, and the south end of the course dives through that coexists with the dunesland. The course is largely a members club but it has hosted DP World Tour events as well as the 2023 Amateur Championship.
Southport and Ainsdale Golf Club - Across the rail line from Hillside we find Southport and Ainsdale Golf Club, or S&A to the locals. The club has a proud history that dates back to the early 1900s and even played host to two of the first three Ryder Cups played in Europe. Designed by James Braid and renovated a couple times in years since, S&A is classic English golf at its finest.
Formby Golf Club - The longer of the two courses on property, Formby dates back to the 1800s and its original design was laid out by Willie Park Jr. James Braid and Harry Colt made alterations in the years soon after opening, but outside of some modest updates due to coastal erosion the course largely remains intact.
Formby Ladies Golf Club - Tipping out at 5,356 yards, Formby Ladies Club is best described as a quirky, enjoyable walk in the park. The course occupies the inner piece of land at Formby Golf Club and offers a scaled down version of the game. Its design emphasizes shotmaking and accuracy while taking you on a delightful stroll through a beautiful piece of land. It will be the gentle handshake to begin our trip.

Frequently Asked Questions
How does the registration process work?
Due to the limited spots available on the trip, we are using a lottery for this registration. FEGC members can register as a single, twosome, or foursome for the lottery. At least one player of the twosome has to be an FEGC member and at least two players of a foursome have to be FEGC members.
Can I sign up a non-FEGC member?
Yes. If you register for a twosome, you are allowed to bring one non-FEGC member. If you register for a foursome, two players in the group are allowed to be non-FEGC members.
Is lodging included?
Yes, seven nights of lodging are included on the trip. All participants will have premium accommodations throughout our trip at the Hope Street Hotel in Liverpool.
Is airfare included?
No, participants will organize their own airfare. We'll take transportation from there!
Is ground transportation included?
Absolutely. Once you get yourself to MAN, we'll have a van waiting and organize all transportation between the hotel and the golf.
Can I book caddies?
Yes, ahead of the trip we will coordinate with all participants and make sure any and all loopers are set up ahead of time. Participants are required to pay caddies directly. Caddies are not included in the price of the trip.
Why is there a price range for the estimated cost?
This trip is priced at the current USD to £ exchange and is dependent on the exchange rate leading into the trip. The quote is valid as long as the exchange rate stays between 5% on either side of the current rate the price will be valid. If the exchange rate falls outside that parameter we will reprice the trip. The final price will also be adjusted should any course change rates (higher or lower) between now and the trip.
How does payment work?
Upon being selected from the lottery, a $3,000 deposit per player is due to secure your spot. The balance will be due approximately four months ahead of the trip. Participants will be sent invoices with the option to use ACH payments or use a credit card with an additional processing fee.
What is the refund policy?
Refunds will be issued only when the spot on the trip is replaced by another FEGC member. At that time, a refund will be issued minus any processing fees incurred.
