Chicagoland Carton?

Hello FEGC! 31, married, no kids, only interested in fighting about bad golf takes. Moving back to the Chicago area after 13 years away (North Shore). Got into golf course architecture (unknowingly) from the course i grew up on, Spring Valley GC in Salem, WI (The best scruffy Langford & Moreau money can buy!)

North Carolina Carton

Who else is in NC? I live in Raleigh, have been in the area my whole life. I just recently started working for a fairly new golf course construction company based in the Triad area. I’m also a weekend warrior player of the game.

Howdy Yolks!

I figured we could use a place to discuss things like:

  • letters we receive from Bob Uecker
  • how many people actually live in the Green Bay area
  • why the Bears still suck
  • and/or some golf stuff

Rodney Dangerfield Fazio

We can only have so many sand scrapes, template holes and potato chip greens before it gets old. Don't get me wrong, I love Doak, C&C, Ross et al. as much as anyone, but I have yet to play a Fazio course that I didn't greatly enjoy.

The Fazio tree also produced Mike Strantz and Jackson Kahn, which is something to be thankful for.

I would love to see a few Fazio courses profiled here even though I'm sure they'll get 0 eggs.

Minnesota

Figured someone had to start a Minnesota one! I know quite a few people through my NLU days, but always looking to meet more people. Especially anyone in the Southwest corner.

Iowa Carton

Figured I'd start the Iowa one. I'm in Des Moines, 2 young kids, only interested in verbally fighting to better golf in the state.

I usually play sporadically outside of Des Moines at small town 9ers. They're usually pretty good and way cheaper and faster.

The Old Course

Curious what everyone's thoughts are on the changes?

I think the new tees will be hilarious during a tournament, where players will just be walking backwards constantly to hit tee shots.

Now the 16th is a welcome change and one that I would like to see happen in more places where the native has crept in and reduced fairway widths. That tee shot on 16 will be fascinating in tournaments as pushing it up the right is really a tall task.

Philadelphia Area Historic Golf

I"m from the Philadelphia area, and I love geeking out over the historic courses crafted by Golden Age architects in our area. I love researching about the Philadelphia School of Golf Course Architecture. If anyone is from the area and would be interested in playing 18 at Jeffersonville, Galen Hall, Reading Country Club, similar type of courses (as far out as the Poconos), or a private course you have access to that would fit under that, I could work to help organize the day.

Kansas!

While I’m sure our numbers are low we don’t lack in great courses! Western Kansas transplant here playing at Buffalo dunes (one of the best munis in the country) and southwind.

Valley of the Sun (Phoenix/Scottsdale) Carton

Well - let me kick off this thread.

Name is Cristian, and I live in North Scottsdale. I have a membership at Ancala Country Club. I also love playing at the other area courses. Would love to get hooked up with other golf degenerates, Egg Heads, and Shotgunners. I am also involved in the First Tee Phoenix chapter and love supporting junior golf.

Holy city golfers, I'm starting this thread to meet some fellow golf nerds in the area. I've only been here since February. I just moved to Seabrook and would love to host Egg members.
